Bill Clears Codes Committee 1 Day After Judiciary Committee Vote

The bill to create a Public Defense Commission emerged from the Assembly Codes Committee today. That's just one day after it was voted out of the Judiciary Committee, as reported below. Read the Campaign's press release here.

The Campaign asks supporters of public defense reform to thank the Codes Committee members for acting so promptly, especially the Chair of the Committee, Joseph Lentol, who also introduced this important legislation.

And again, the Campaign wants Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver to hear from supporters that A.8793 is moving and that the Assembly should pass it as soon as possible.
