State Senator Darrel J. Aubertine has signed on to the Public Defense Act of 2009, S.6002/A.8793! Supporters of public defense reform should contact Sen. Aubertine to thank him.
Momentum for reform also continues on other fronts. The Committee for Modern Courts, a strong supporter of public defense reform, has submitted a memorandum in support of S.6002/A.8793. Other endorsing organizations have done so as well, as noted in the prior post. More are needed!
Recent additions to the Campaign's list of endorsing organizations include the statewide organization, Church Women United in New York State, and the regional group Alliances of Communities Transforming Syracuse. Faith-based organizations are an important part of the Campaign - supporters are encouraged to let their churches, synagogues, temples, or other faith gatherings know about the need for public defense reform and seek their support!
